Most of the games on my website are built using the website Wordwall.
GENERAL TIPS
Have the Student read all of the words/sentences in the games. The other player can keep track of the score on paper or whiteboard.
For added variety some games offer the same content in different formats. A capital letter at the end of a title indicates that the content is basically the same, but the game format is different. For example, the title m-n Set A offers the same general content in three formats: Group sort, Matching Pairs, Random Wheel.
QUIZ: one person activity
GAME: 2 or 2+ Players.
Some games are set up as “BOOM!” games.
Other games are set up in a Game format that includes different kinds of cards, such as “End of Turn,” “Jumping Jacks,” “Simon Says,” and “+ or -” points.
“Jumping Jacks” and “Simon Says” cards apply to the next player waiting for their turn. Use your imagination! Switch Jumping Jacks to whatever you choose: switch to Simon Says or push-ups or whatever!
PLAY THE GAME! The student reads all of the words and phrases during the game, but each player earns the point value of whatever cards are dealt them during their turn.
The point value for cards is set at 1 point per card or 1 point for every word on a card or pre-set on the card itself.
The Player with the most points at the end of the game is the winner.
GAME PLAY EXAMPLE: Player 1 is dealt the phrase card, “had a pan” and, if the point value for the game is set at 1 point for every word on the card, earns 3 points (or 1 point if the point value is set for 1 point per card). If Player 1 is dealt a Jumping Jack Card during his turn, then Player 2 does 5 Jumping Jacks. Player 1 continues to earn one point for each word dealt (or 1 point per card) until an End of Turn card is dealt, which means Player 1’s turn has ended.
Then it is Player 2’s turn to earn points. If Player 2 is dealt a Jumping Jack card during his turn, then Player 1 does 5 Jumping Jacks. Player 2 continues to earn points for cards dealt until an End of Turn card is dealt, which means it is Player 1’s turn again.
Play continues as above until all of the cards have been played or a pre-set time period has elapsed.

LEADERBOARD: Students can compete with themselves, a friend or family member to earn a spot (or a higher spot!) on the Leaderboard. Take turns on the same device or play on different devices simultaneously. The Leaderboard keeps a record of the top 10 scores. Certain games do not offer a Leaderboard. If available, an option to view the Leaderboard appears at the end of the game. If you have won a place on the Leaderboard, you will be offered the option to enter your name.
SPECIFIC GAME PLAY TIPS
FLIP TILES
Explore a series of two-sided tiles.
There are two ways to select tiles:
- CLICK to Zoom. SWIPE to flip. Click a tile to ZOOM in and out. SWIPE the tile in any direction to flip it.
- Click the icons on the bottom of the screen.

RANDOM WHEEL
Spin the wheel. Read the word, phrase, or sentence on the card the arrow points to. Choose “eliminate” you want to eliminate the card before you continue or “resume” if you want to leave the card on the wheel. Then spin the wheel to continue the game.
UNJUMBLE
TWO WAYS TO EARN POINTS.
- BASIC: Unjumble the sentence and earn 1 point for each word.
- BONUS POINTS: Earn double the points if you are able to complete the sentence in the number of moves displayed at the top of the screen. The number of moves for bonus points varies; it depends on the number of words in the sentence i.e. more words = more moves).
EXAMPLES: 5 words in a sentence = 5 points. If you complete the sentence in the number of moves displayed at the top of the screen, you earn 10 points. 8 words in a sentence = 8 points. If you complete the sentence in the number of moves specified at the top of the screen, you earn 16 points.
SCORE BOX: located in the top right-hand corner of the game.
FLASHCARDS
- Question is on the front side. Answer is on the flip side.
- Student gives the answer to the question asked on the front side of the card.
- Then student clicks the picture to flip the card to check their answer.
- If student’s answer is correct, student clicks the green check mark
- If student’s answer is incorrect, student clicks red X
- Next card automatically appears after the check mark or X is clicked
- If a card is marked with an X, it will automatically reappear later for review purposes
- If Flash Cards is laid out in Game format, the student answers all of the questions and flips the cards.
- Players alternate back and forth, one card per turn, collecting or losing points as they go.
- The second player can keep score while the student flips the cards and checks the answer.
- If Flash Cards is formatted as a game, a student may still use the deck for review purposes to quiz themselves. In this case, they would simply ignore the extra playing cards.
